Classic Album

McCoy Tyner’s late sixties masterpiece for Blue Note Records, Expansions, found the revered pianist and composer leading a septet for the first time. Described by Charles Waring as an album that ‘highlighted his growth as a composer and arranger,’ it features four pieces written by Tyner and a fifth from the pen of trumpeter Cal Massey.
