Trio Grande brings together Gilad Hekselman, Will Vinson and Nate Wood in a trio format unlike any other. It might look like there’s no bass player, but there are in fact three: Nate Wood is one of the few musicians able to play drums and bass simultaneously at an exceptional level, while Vinson doubles on keyboards and Hekselman creates intricate, interwoven lines across the guitar. Together, they create a sound as expansive as a group twice their size.

The trio’s music sits at the meeting point of jazz, contemporary composition and a wide range of musical influences. Each member brings their own distinctive approach as a composer and bandleader, but together they have developed a shared language built around texture, dynamics, improvisation and interplay.

Following their acclaimed debut, Trio Grande released Trio Grande: What’s Left in 2026, continuing their exploration of the possibilities of the bassless trio format. The album moves between complex rhythmic ideas, expansive soundscapes and deeply melodic compositions, with each piece shaped by the group’s ability to shift roles and respond instinctively to one another.
